I know you think how I did come up to such a name like Charita, well, it's from a Greek word χαριτωμένη, phonetic charitomenih. It means cute in Greek and it sounds cute too, Charita ^...^, cute, isn't it? Yes, it is!

The Charita Dolls are inspirated by the Chibi cartoons which I drew in my book. A big head, big eyes and a small, tiny body, and by the way, I like to draw those creatures. I will post my drawings soon on my blog, but I am a busy girl, you know?

Abbreviations
MR - magic ring
sc - single crochet
inc - increase
dec - decrease
st(s) - stitch(es)
ch - chain
FO - fasten off
Rnd - round
dc - double crochet
hdc - half double crochet
tc - triple crochet
sl st - slip stitch
*...* - actions in asterisks should be repeated until round completion or to the indicated stopping point in the round
(...) -  number in parentheses indicates total number of stitches after round / row completion

Materials
Beige or skin color yarn
Black yarn
Red or lip color yarn
Stitch marker
2,5mm  crochet hook
9mm animal eyes or if you get safety eyes, you can paint your own animal eyes!

Work tightly so the fiberfill doesn't show through the stitches

The Pattern

Head (beige / skin color yarn)
Rnd 1         10sc in MR (10)
Rnd 2         *inc* (20)
Rnd 3         *sc, inc* (30)
Rnd 4-14    *sc* (30)
Rnd 15        *3sc, dec* (24)
Rnd 16        *2sc, dec* (18)
Cut the yarn leaving a tail from 72 inches/185 cm long.
Now you have crocheted the top of the head, we will finish the bottom of the head later, after the body is finished. Place a stitch marker or a small safety pin in the working loop of your crochet, so you don't unravel your head stitches

At this point you can attach the eyes to the head. Attach the 9mm animal eyes to the head between rounds 11 and 12,   6sc apart. And because your doll will become a female, I decided to make eyelashes for her too! So you can see it's a girl!

Body (beige / skin color yarn)
The body starts at the neck opening
Work in rounds, use a stitch marker to keep your place
Rnd 1       6sc in MR (6)
Rnd 2-3    *sc* (6)
Rnd 4        *inc* (12)
Rnd 5        *5sc, inc* (14)
Rnd 6        *sc* (14)
Rnd 7         2sc, 5dc-cluster [popcorn stitch], 2sc, 5dc-cluster, 8sc (14)
Rnd 8-11    *sc* (14)
Rnd 12       sc, dec, 5sc, dec, 4sc (12)
Rnd 13       *sc* (12)
Stuff the body, but don't let the stuffing show through the stitches.
Rnd 14        Flatten the last round of the body and sc the body closed with 6sc.
Place a stitch marker or small safety pin in your working loop so your stitches don't unravel.

Return to the head and stuff it firmly, then finish the head by working the last 2 head rounds:

Rnd 17       *sc, dec* (12)
Rnd 18       *dec* (6)
Decrease till the head is tight around the neck.

Back to the body...

Upper leg (make 2)(beige / skin color yarn)
Rnd 1      Turn the body and sc in front loop of the next 3 sc, turn and sc in the remaining loops of the same sc stitches to make the first round of the leg. Don't join, continue working in rounds (6)
Rnd 2-8   *sc* (6)
Rnd 9       *dec* (3)
Fasten Off.

If you made the Charita Doll till the upper leg, it will look like the picture here.

Lower leg and foot (make 2)(beige / skin color yarn)
Leave a long tail to attach to the upper leg
Rnd 1        ch 2, 5sc in the 2nd ch from the hook (5)
Rnd 2-9    *sc*  (5)
Rnd 10        2x[2dc-cluster], 3 slst (5)
The 2dc-cluster is like a popcorn stitch but then with 2dc instead of 5dc.
The 2dc-cluster is the heel by the way.
Rnd 11-12   *sc* (5)
Rnd 13         2dec (3)
Fasten Off.

Sew the lower leg on the upper leg and your doll has two legs!

Upper arm (make 2)(beige / skin color yarn)
Leave a long of yarn at the beginning to sew the upper arm to the body. Work in round and don't join
Rnd 1       ch 2, 5sc in 2nd ch from the hook (5)
Rnd 2-5   *sc* (5)
Rnd 6       2 dec (3)
FO. Run the yarn end into the upper arm.
